Its St Louis time at the World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, Illinois. Which means 300 laps of its varied corner oval track, and in 2022 at least it will be a welcome break from the preceding 600 miles of the Coca Cola 600 race, which was great for fans but grueling for the drivers.

However, any day NASCAR is racing is a great day and it will be something new for some drivers when this track is on the schedule as well, it has appeared in Truck but its the first time for the Cup Series of NASCAR.

The track is located just about 5 km East of St Louis is Illinois, really close to the city centre.


How Long Is World Wide Technology Raceway?


Charlotte Motor Speedway is a one and a quarter mile asphalt oval motor racing track near St louis, Illinois. It has banking of 11 degrees in turns 1 and 2 and 9 degrees in turns 3 and 4.

Turns 1 and 2 are sharper than turns 3 and 4 and it resembles darlington racetrack and has been compared as a mix of New Hampshire and Phoenix raceways.

Who owns World Wide Technology Raceway?

Although it has had quite a history since it was constructed in 1967, remodelled in 1985, and 1995, it did actually close for a couple of years in 2010/11. However it was taken over by Curtis FrancoisOpens in a new tab. in 2012 /13 and has been going from strength to strength ever since.

The track is a 1.25 mile egg shape oval racetrack with 11 to 9 degree banking in the turns and The Track is considered a tough track due to its similarity to Darlington for both drivers and their cars due to its tight and varied cornering. ther eis some dispute over whether it is 1.25 miles or 1.27 miles long between NASCAR and IRL.

Although IndyCar has races here for a number of years, NASCAR is racing for the first time in 2022. So there are no records as of yet. However, we will pop these in after the race. Camping World Truck Racing has been held here and Chase Briscoe holds that record.

World Wide Technology Raceway usually experiences fine weather for racing in the Early Summer. Temperatures can range from 25 to 31 and although rain can occur you are likely to get sunburnt more than soaked so bring sunscreen and some good sunglasses.

The ticket price range for World Wide Technology Raceway usually start at $49 to 218 for truck to Cup Checkered Flag seats. depending where the seat is located thsi will vary of course, and how close to race day you buy the ticket. When Was World Wide Technology Raceway Constructed?

It was originally built in 1967 as a drag racing track, as it was built on disused swamp land it was nicknamed the swamp. It continued to be a drag racing venue in the 1970s. In the 1980s a rod circuit was built. In 1995 it was reconfigured again into an oval track, with different banking and tight turns.
